Hen Harrier Action plans for 2022

Young Filmmaker Challenge

We will be running a competition for young filmmakers later in the year. We plan to launch it in September, with a deadline for entries of March 2023.

Hen Harrier Day

No online event this year as we’re focusing on participating in Wild Justice’s Hen Harrier Fest on 24 July, including announcing the winners of the Young Wild Writers competition.

We also are pleased to bring you 'Walk for Harriers' our first mobile Hen Harrier Day event in the Highlands of Scotland. Details here:

Walk for Harriers

'Walk for Harriers' is a free walk and talk event along a local moorland track within the Cairngorms National Park. Come along and hear about the wildlife you may see (including hen harriers) and the various management techniques employed to maximise grouse for shooting. We are to meet at the initial rendezvous point at the High St car park at Grantown on Spey at 11am here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/dAGFjuMTMqgi45pbA for onward instruction. Please car share if possible, or be prepared to, dress appropriately for the weather and walking and bring some lunch. Please note: although the walk itself will be gentle and 1-2 in duration it unfortunately isn't suitable for wheelchair use. Hope to see you there!

Young Wild Writer Competition

In 2022 we continued our popular writing competition. Details of the winning entries are here.

Nest cameras

We are hoping to bring you live streamed footage from a hen harrier nest in 2023, but in the meantime why not enjoy this live recorded footage from our barn own nest cam from 2022...
