Skydancer Day Live with Megan McCubbin and Indy Kiemel Greene - Sunday 7th May
Broadcasting Live on YouTube from The Hawk Conservancy Trust on Sunday 7th May @12.30pm - 13.30pm
Wildlife presenter Megan McCubbin and Hen Harrier Action’s Indy Kiemel Greene will host this year’s online Skydancer Day event, from the Hawk Conservancy Trust in Hampshire, with an exciting line-up, including the much-awaited announcement of this year’s Young Wild Writer competition.
Renowned children’s author, vet, wildlife enthusiast and tree house dweller Gill Lewis will be announcing the theme for Hen Harrier Action’s annual Young Wild Writer competition and sharing some tips for aspiring young authors.
Megan and Indy will be discovering more about the RSPB’s Hen Harrier Survey 2023 from Senior Conservation Scientist Simon Wotton, the first since 2016, which showed a 14% decline since 2010 for this much-persecuted, red-listed species.
There will be plenty of exciting footage of Hen Harriers, including an item on winter roosting, and an update from the ground-breaking Tarras Valley project, one of the most ambitious community projects of a generation.
The 5,200-acre Tarras Valley Nature Reserve, which includes upland moor, ancient woodland, meadows, peatlands and a river valley, came into being following an ambitious community fundraising campaign, raising £3.8m in just six months.
